Dina Riyanti
is an illustrator from Indonesia
Hello! I have finished my study in MA Children's Book Illustration at Cambridge School Of Art in January 2019.
A few highlights on my illustration life: an Indonesian book I illustrated for Litara Foundation and published in limited edition (by order), "Jangan Sedih, Bujang!" (Don't Be Sad, Bujang!) won a prize at Samsung's Kid Time Award in Singapore, 2015. The same book is also selected as one of the recommended literary works by the National Education Standard Board for Indonesia in 2019. In 2017, I led the team for leveled books development for Papuan children, with UNICEF Indonesia for Papua – as well as being involved as an author and illustrator.
I admire the quirky and playful works of Quentin Blake and Oliver Jeffers, as well as the dreamy paintings and prints of my favourite artist, Marc Chagall. I am fascinated by the richness of cultural diversity, colours, humour and heartwarming message - those aspects influence my works.
For art media, I use risography, and also mixed digital-manual technique. I like working with gouache and acrylic paint as well. However, I love to learn and explore new things, and enjoy the journey!
